One of the many things we want to do at Guitar Instructions HQ, is help you wade through all the crap. We were once searching for all sorts of guitar instructions, in hopes of learning guitar with the most efficiency, only to find a bunch of useless information. So, we’ve written this article in hopes that you can take from it what you want and learn how to pick out quality guitar instructions.

So, what are a few things we look for when we’re looking for quality guitar instructions? We look for, not only a wide range of topics covered, but we also look for them to be covered in detail. We don’t just look for a set of tabs where they assume you know what to do, nor do we look for them to take a scale and pick it apart 100% and show you every little thing you can do with it. 

Something else we look for when we’re trying to find guitar instructions is something to stimulate us aurally. Guitar is a skill that is very reliant on your ear, especially considering you hear the sound that it makes. Sadly, most books do not do this. However, there are a select few who deliver in this area. I will be reviewing all of the books that I feel will help make you a better musician, so prepare yourself!

Online guitar instructions resources are also very, very helpful. They offer the greatness that a teacher can give you, while, for the price of a single lesson, you get the whole package and get to re-watch the instructions without paying more.

Another way to learn guitar is instructional DVDs. These are very helpful in the same way that downloadable resources are helpful. You can actually hear what it is that you’re supposed to be playing. This is key in getting quality guitar instructions.
